For more than a decade, Utpal Sengupta has been deeply researching and practising Nadi Jyotish — a predictive tradition known for its remarkable depth, specificity and insight into the timing of life events.
His journey into astrology was gradual and deeply personal. Professionally trained and engaged as a graphic designer, Utpal has always been driven by creativity, observation and the desire to look beyond conventional boundaries. His creative mind constantly urged him to explore something different — something that could combine intuition, knowledge, pattern and deeper meaning.
Over time, this search led him towards Nadi Jyotish. What began as curiosity slowly became a profound area of research, study and spiritual pursuit. The extraordinary structure and predictive nature of Nadi fascinated him, eventually transforming an interest into a dedicated path of practice.
In the Nadi tradition, a horoscope is not viewed merely as a collection of planets, houses and calculations, but as a living record of a soul's karmic journey through time. Nadi itself represents a living current — something that carries movement, life and continuity. With reverence to Mahadev, this ancient wisdom is traditionally associated with Maha Shiva Vakyam — the sacred utterance or divine guidance of Shiva.
Utpal begins every reading with utmost faith in Mahadev and complete conviction in the knowledge he has acquired through years of study, research and practice. He believes that an astrologer must have confidence in his Vidya before attempting to interpret another person's destiny.
At the same time, that conviction is accompanied by humility. No astrologer, however knowledgeable, can equal the discretion, wisdom or predictive power of the Divine. Ultimately, what is revealed — and how much is permitted to be revealed — remains subject to a higher order beyond the astrologer himself.
This belief also shapes an important principle of his practice. Following an instruction received from his Guru, if three consecutive major predictions in a consultation prove incorrect, Utpal returns the Dakshina. Within his understanding of the Nadi tradition, such an occurrence may indicate that the Nadi is not permitting that individual's karmic path to be opened through him at that particular time.
For Utpal, therefore, Nadi Jyotish is more than the art of prediction. It is an exploration of the subtle relationship between karma, time, destiny and divine will — approached with knowledge, creativity, faith and responsibility.
